Looking into the past

When choosing what to put in a time capsule I chose to put 10 significant things in. For me when looking back at my past there are 10 objects which reflect who I am or have changed who I am in good and bad ways. Here are the objects I chose and why I chose them;

Hospital Band

Hospital band

This object is very significant to me. It represents a rough time in my life. The band is what my sister was given when admitted to hospital after being in a very serious car accident. From this accident I lost a friend, who didn't make it in the accident and in a way my sister as she suffers from a serious head injury, this causing brain damage. I chose the band for the capsule almost to bury the past in order to put the trauma behind me. With the band are various words like; fatal, trauma, car, accident, loss, hospital. I felt these described the memory the best.

Childhood picture

This photograph I chose to put in the time capsule because it is a picture of my twin sister and I. This photo was taken after our first day at school. Not only was our first day at school very important and scary but I chose this photo to show how we were constantly together and always had each other. The main idea for burying this is that now we have chosen to go separate ways and are no longer always together, but this will always remain a memory. The words I chose to put in with this picture are; Play, first day, school, twin, happiness, togetherness. These are what I felt best described the photograph. 



Car keys
My car keys are very important as they are the keys to my very first car. My car is a big part of my life now, it provides me with a sense of independence and security. I can travel to places on my own and safely. I put them in the time capsule so when its dug up in the next ten years maybe keys will not exist? I chose words like: first car, Clio, independence, transport and home. This is to give a clue as to what they are and also what there for.

Birthday card
This birthday card is my 18th birthday card in which I received from my two best friend. I chose to bury this in the capsule to almost bury the memories we had and because at 18 many things change. You go your separate ways to like university and move away so I thought it would be good to signify moving on and making new memories. I chose various words for this card like; 18th, friendship, presents, legal. I believe that these would show what the card could represent.

My holiday t-shirt

This shirt represents the memory of going on my first girls holiday, it got given to me at one of the events in Ayia Napa. The top has been personalised and ripped which almost tells a story on its own. I wanted to use this as this is a holiday that I will always remember and I don't think any other holiday can compare. I chose words like; sun, sea, party, beach, fun, friends. So when the top is dug up people could have an idea of the story behind the top.

Primary school shirt
This shirt has multiple signatures all over from all my primary school class mates. Leaving primary school is a big event in my life as you move on to secondary school. That is why I chose to bury it as I wanted to bury the past to signify the new and moving on.
